Winder risers for stairs are intended for use on staircases that include winder steps. These are a triangular step that is narrower on one side than the other. They are used as an alternative to a landing to change the direction of a staircase. These risers are only intended to be used with winder treads.
A staircase which uses a sequence of winders can form circular, curved, winder or spiral staircases, so you can create a staircase that suits exact specifications.
We supply pre-made winder risers that are 18mm x 230mm. These come in lengths of 1.3m, and is designed to be cut to size during installation. Alternatively, we can produce a winder riser custom to your staircase’s measurements, just contact us to ask about any special requirements and bespoke designs.
These winder risers are produced in a selection of timbers. Economical materials such as whitewood and pine are ideal is the stairs will be carpeted as there will be no need for the timber to show. However, if you are leaving the treads visible you may want to consider using a higher quality of wood, such as hemlock or oak, and giving the pieces a finish that will highlight the natural beauty of the wood.
