Newel posts are typically used as a structural element to anchor the handrail of staircases and landings. Newel Post base pieces form the bottom, square section that a turned newel post will be fitted They are usually joined to the structure of the staircase and the floor. Our newel post bases are 90mm x 90mm and come in a choice of heights, to suit individual staircase requirements and constraints. Our newel bases are produced in a range of stunning timbers that can be varnished or stained, and we also have bases that are white primed and ready to paint. Timbers we use include oak, ash, hemlock and sapele.

These newel bases are usually used with turned newel posts and have a 50mm hole for the peg on the turned newel to fit into. These newel bases are 3000mm, this measurement combined with the length of the turned newel will be the total height of the newel posts once it’s fitted together. Newel bases can be trimmed to suit exact measurements.
