Plain, clean-cut lines are all the rage at the moment in the field of interior decor, with home owners and developers increasingly asking us for minimalist designs rather than more decorative types of staircase. | ||||||
This trend is beautifully illustrated by Case Study no. 341 - one of our best-selling styles. The client wanted a modern look, so we created a smooth, sleek staircase in American white oak with square spindles and a continuous square handrail with planed edges. For maximum light flow, we used open treads with contemporary risers made from stainless steel tubes. And to keep the profile of the stairs as streamlined as possible, we dispensed with newel caps and attached the end of the handrail directly to the newel post. This has now become one of our most popular designs, in keeping with the current fashion for square or rectangular furniture and bathroom fittings. |
