Tasked with designing two staircases with an identical style but differing in size and shape, the Pear Stairs team worked closely with the client in this project, from concept to manufacturing.

Fundamentally similar in structure, with both staircases including a ¼ landing and a continuous balustrade that returns along the landing space; the core components of these staircases are deliberately matching for design continuity throughout the property.

All crafted from high-quality softwood, the client wanted these staircases to be open and provide a welcoming aesthetic to the room. Facilitated by the use of white walls that promote the transmission of natural light; it was decided to opt for a double D-step entry and a cut string to enhance the spacious and inviting feel to both staircases.

Standout features, the newel posts and volute newel posts are not the standard design and were manufactured bespoke to meet the clients desired design aesthetic. Installing round tapered newel posts with the handrails sitting over the top; the round style was continued in the volute newel posts, instead of the traditional Georgian style with a magnificent effect.

Finished with a grey runner carpet and spindles sourced by the client. The Pear Stairs manufacturing team went the extra mile to prepare the treads by pre-drilling 25mm diameter holes for seamless installation. On the subject of finer details, scotia was also added beneath each of the treads for a subtle yet intricate additional design feature, that provides character to the side profile of both staircases.
