965. Henley Staircase
Henley-in-Arden
Warwickshire
This warm contemporary staircase features an oak and glass balustrade plus dual feature steps for a final design that works as a centrepiece for the property while complimenting the style of the building. The treads are softwood and the risers are plywood, a cost-saving choice for carpeted staircase designs. Carpeted stairs may not have the visual impact of a full solid hardwood staircase but they are comfortable underfoot, a feature that is generally preferred in domestic properties. The balustrade has been made with oak stop chamfered newel posts, topped with flat caps. The client has decided to use glass panels instead of spindles for a bright and modern look. The glass has been mounted directly onto the baserail for a clean and minimalist style that foregoes the need for clamps or brackets.
This staircase has been complimented with small steps at the entrance. These steps have been designed to echo the dual D-end feature steps on the main staircase with their own bullnose step design.
The cost break down was:
Main stairs: £2220.66 +vat
Small steps: £592.26+vat
