889. Rann Staircase

Kington

Herefordshire

This is a single winder staircase, the strings and risers are in softwood, all other parts are in ash.  The softwood parts have been painted white on site which gives it a great contrast from ash to softwood.  It has two single sided bullnose steps at the entry of the stairs.  The handrails and baserails are our Pear style.

Our Customer Said:

Basically, we used ash and a cheaper timber which is painted.  I prefer that to all ash, as it makes the treads stand out and contrasts with the wood grain.  There seems to be a presumption by a lot of clients that wood has to be oak if you're going to show it off, nonsense - there's a lot of lovely timbers to use!  We are impressed with Pear Stairs and have used you a few times now.  The carpenters say how nicely they go together.  We did use a slighter cheaper competitor for two little annex/workshops stairs, but they were not to your standard, lesson learnt!
