The newels and spindles of this softwood quarter landing staircase are stop-chamfered and finished with a pyramid newel cap. As this staircase is for use in a school it is 1200mm (4ft) wide. The photographs do not do justice to this fitting as there are six metres of return balcony (as shown in the plan drawing).
