This is an example of a standard softwood single winder staircase. The posts are stop-chamfered with a pyramid cap and a 35mm stop-chamfered spindle. As the staircase was being carpeted we used whitewood for treads, MDF for winder treads and plywood for the risers. The bottom newel post was set back to the second tread to align with the wall.
