Our Pear Stairs team was approached by clients in Northamptonshire exploring options for their modern home, longing for a unique design feature to create an open and airy feel to their property. To retain the emission of natural lighting provided by the elongated window in the property's hallway, clients opted for an open-riser style flight, with a clear glass balustrade.
Both flights were crafted using entirely oak components. In doing this, they were able to introduce warmth back into a seemingly simple hallway. The textures of the oak are distinctive thanks to the prominent grain pattern, adding character to the design.
The client decided to make the addition of a carpet section to each tread. This allowed a colour break from the oak and blends seamlessly with the carpet along the landing/hallway. This also helps improve the safety of the staircase by increasing its grip, which is an ideal option for households with families.
The combination of natural wood, metal accents, and clean lines created a timeless, modern look that added value and beauty to his home. The staircase also helped to create a sense of flow and connection between different levels of the house, making it a functional and practical design choice.
