1071. Upper Oak House
Hereford
Herefordshire
Clients from Hereford approached the Pear Stairs team seeking an access point to their raised
patio area, confirming they wanted an external flight that would be hard-wearing across all seasons.
To ensure the longevity of their staircase, clients opted for air-dried Oak. This process
means the Oak is stacked, in a dry environment, where air can flow easily around them, allowing the
moisture to naturally evaporate. This option to air-dry the Oak meant the staircase was more
cost-effective for the clients.
Following an open-riser style, which is a common feature of external staircases to ensure extra
weatherproofing and drainage. Usually, clients are advised to utilise anti-slip treads to
meet safety regulations however, with this flight only being 4 treads tall, the grooves weren't
necessary.
Our Customer Said:
We bought and installed our Oak staircase ourselves. We are competent DIYs 'ers. The Pear Stairs team were brilliant. The Oak quality is great and all the joints were precision machined. The designers allowed us to use the existing metal feet that secure the stairs to the concrete, saving a lot of work.
