DUNSTABLE

BEDFORDSHIRE

An unorthodox request for our staircase experts at Pear Stairs, this client in Luton was in need of a singular straight staircase to sit between an existing staircase below and a balustrade, with three additional steps, above.

More than up to the challenge, our dedicated designers worked meticulously with both the on-site joiner and our highly-skilled in-house staircase manufacturers to ensure that every measurement was entirely accurate to make the process of fitting this staircase as easy as possible.

In terms of the staircase’s look, this flight was crafted entirely from redwood to match the existing stairs on the property. A cut string structure with scotia was also selected to maintain the bright and open appearance of the space, with the client finishing off the design by sourcing their own black metal spindles to provide a contrast in colour.

The chunky square newel posts were topped with pyramid newel caps, and to help complete the aesthetic of the property we used an extra-long top newel post that continues up to connect with the existing balustrade above the second floor. We also supplied an extra handrail cut for this client to form a diminishing handrail. This provided a clean break between the ground floor and first-floor staircases for a sleek finish to the overall structure.
