1015. St Edmunds Church

FRAISTHORPE

YORKSHIRE

An inspiring project to be included within, the restoration of this 13th century, Grade II listed church on the East Coast between Bridlington and Hornsea was one of the favourites among our expert design team.

A grandeur property that deserved a stunning staircase, this flight looks exquisite in its place with a shine of natural light from the feature window.

Crafted entirely from black walnut for its deep luxurious colour, this winder staircase matches the surrounding decor perfectly. Helping to complete the unique blend of traditional and contemporary style in the design scheme

For the traditional aspect of this design, intricate detailing was added to provide character to the staircase. This included square provincial newel posts with acorn newel caps, a pear handrail, an apron and nosing, all in the same black walnut.

This was then paired with 21mm treads, 18mm risers and the addition of an apron for a chunky contemporary look that is in keeping with the surrounding furnishings.

To complete this feature staircase, the client sourced their own black metal spindles, added small plaques to the risers and placed a small medieval suit of armour to keep guard.

They look great, just what I pictured in fact!
