When renovating this holiday let in Brecon, Mid Wales, the property owners wanted a new staircase to completely transform the living space.
More than up to the task, our expert design team crafted this stunning feature staircase. Providing the room with more natural light during the day, and a quirky light up finish in the evening.
In terms of the structure of this staircase, oak was selected for all the components. This was for both its quality and to fit the design scheme of this cosy oak-beamed cottage.
It was also decided to craft this staircase using a no glue block or wedge construction. This allowed for the underside of the staircase to be on show, a characteristic that really makes this staircase stand out.
For the balustrade, glass panels were directly inserted into the grooved base rail and handrail, increasing the transmission of natural light throughout both floors. To match this open aesthetic, a D-end step with a bullnose tread welcomes you at the bottom of this flight.
To complete this feature staircase, 32mm square newel posts were added, with the top post double-ended and continuing through the floor. The client then finished off the staircase by adding blue LEDs into the risers to create the option of a contemporary light-up aesthetic.
