THEYDON BOIS

ESSEX

An outstanding addition to this Essex property; this all oak cut string staircase beautifully fits within the existing natural wood design scheme of this home.

Beginning with its structural features; this winder staircase includes two double-sided bullnose steps at the entry that provide a welcoming look to the space. A theme that continues up the flight, the cut string design is in-keeping with the open-plan style, promoting natural light and a bright aesthetic throughout both floors.

Also chosen to complement the surroundings, chunky 32mm treads with scotia host 32mm stop-chamfered spindles that sit between 90mm newel posts that have an angled shape top and decorative kerf.

A stunning staircase in its own right, the carpenter then added their own personal touch to this staircase by making several modifications during the installation.

Instead of using the landing base rail, they installed the spindles on the landing directly into the wooden flooring to match the cut string effect. They also utilised the extra handrail sections we supplied to make an additional handrail piece, intricately cutting and shaping it to fit around the existing cupboard space.

Finally, they opted to install an oak veneer board beneath the staircase instead of the cover mould typically used, before finishing the whole staircase with OSMO Polyx Hardware-Oil to form a protective coating.
