A relatively large scale project in terms of height, this client based in Bath was in search of two stunning staircases spanning from the ground floor to the second floor of the building.

An interesting task for our expert team, each staircase had to be individually designed with differing structural dimensions to fit the layout of the property. For this reason, the lower staircase is a double winder with the top staircase a half landing design.

Meticulously planned, and as with all our staircases, all building regulations were accounted for throughout the design process. In this case, a key regulation was accounting for headroom when creating the structure of the second staircase and the position of the landing space. 

In addition, due to the installation of the second staircase above the first flight; headroom building regulations had to be accounted for when designing the structure and the position of the landing space, ensuring there was sufficient clearance.

Ending the differences between the staircases there, both flights are identical in style, perfectly fitting into the existing decor of the building.

Purposefully designed to promote the transmission of light throughout the building, each staircase includes glass into groove balustrades to facilitate the circulation of natural light from the large windows and skylights.

To add style, both flights were manufactured with white primed whitewood strings to match the walls and a low profile oak handrail and posts for a welcome colour break. These newel posts were topped with slender newel caps and, as an extra design feature, the bottom of the middle newel posts were cut to match the profile of the string.

Upon completion, the client added a luxurious dark grey carpet to both staircases, resulting in a modern finish that will last for many years to come.
