Standard Handrail (PHR Handrail)Unique to Pear Stairs. This handrail has a well-rounded design. Providing good grip, an ideal handrail to compliment your staircase, supplied at a competitive price. |
THR HandrailThis superb handrail adds a touch of elegance to a staircase. It is a popular handrail choice among more traditional designs, though with options such as white primed available along with a variety of different timber types, there are design variations to suit almost any style. |
Standard Handrail Low Profile
|
Mop Stick HandrailA mop stick handrail is ideal for a staircase where a wall is on either side or the staircase is too wide and necessitates the need for an additional handrail due to building regulations. This handrail requiress brackets of which there is a wide and ornate selection available through the Pear Stairs online shop. |
Pig's Ear HandrailMuch like a mop stick handrail, a pig's ear handrail is suited to staircases with a wall on either side or where building regulations require an additional handrail. Unlike a mop stick, this handrail is fixed directly on to the wall and does not require brackets. The streamlined design and smooth curves of this handrail are appealling to most tastes. |
Continuous HandrailA continuou handrail gives a staircase a flowing form, often preferred in modern homes. Only one type of newel post can be used with continuous handrails, the Continuous PST5. This is a solid all round design that is available in a variety of different beautiful timbers. |
Staircase Handrail Horizontal 90° TurnThe horizontal turn will give your handrail a continuous flowing form that is simultaneously grand and elegant. |
Staircase Handrail Volute (Right or Left Hand)The volute is a beautiful addition to a handrail that completes the luxurious flow of a continuous handrail. Volutes include an up ramp that is joined seperately. |
Staircase Handrail Opening Cap
|
Staircase Handrail Straight Cap (STR-CAP)When a balcony runs for over 2.4 metres a newel is required (PST5) for extra support. A straight cap sits on top of the newel. |
Staircase Horizontal Cap Turn (HTRNCPTN)Similar to the horizontal turn, a horizontal turn is used when a handrail cornr is supported by a PST5 newel post. These sorners provide an ornate touch to a staircase design. |
Staircase Vertical TurnA vertical turn keeps the flow of a continuous handrail going through sharp corners. These handrail features are available with a groove large enough to accomodate spindles up to 41mm. Alternative sized grooves are available on request. |
Continuous Handrail "A"A continuous handrail can be designed to fit most spaces and design restrictions thanks to the variety of component combinations. These diagrams demonstrate a continuous handrail installed on a "Dog Leg" with a straight step. There is an up ramp, a horizontal turn and a vertical turn in the handrail. |
Continuous Handrail Corner Configuration "B"Here a staircase is illustrated with a straight step and landing "Dog Lef" configuration. The handrail detailed here features up ramps, vertical turns, straight caps and a horizontal turn. |
Continuous Handrail System and Newels
A continuous handrail sytem uses straight lengths of handrail connected to handrail fittings and ramps, allowing the handrail to flow over the tops of newels.
There are a variety of newel post options for continuous handrails detailed below in a choice of materials.
