2.  The Glamorous Brighton Staircase.

(Stair Parts).

This is a wonderful example of what can be achieved when ordering stair parts from our online shop.

Having purchased the parts our client literally manufactured the staircase on site to his own personal taste.

3.  Grand Oak Staircase.

This beautiful European Oak, half landing staircase has been customised by our client.  We have manufactured 150mm square newels, 70mm turned spindles with a large section handrail.  The newels have been finished with an Artichoke style cap.

4.  Spine Metal & Glass Staircase.

(Glass Staircase).

This metal spine staircase was designed and manufactured to our clients unique vision.  With Oak treads and risers and a glass balustrade the stairs truly are the feature of this home.

Our customer said: "We are delighted with the stairs, its exactly what we had in mind."

5.  Walnut & Glass Staircase.

(Glass Staircase).

This beautiful staircase has been manufactured in American Black Walnut.  The client has opted for a glass balustrade.  The large square bottom step is again bespoke to the client as opposed to the more conventional curved bullnose step.  The string lighting has been installed by the client.

6.  Chapel Hemlock Staircase.

This beautiful hemlock closed staircase was chosen for use in a converted chapel.

The centre carpet that runs down the staircase is made even more attractive by the brass stair rods (these can be purchased in the online shop).

Turned newels and spindles have ensured that the client has kept the image of the original building.

7.  Stained Oak Staircase.

Fluted newels and spindles enhance the beauty in this Oak staircase. The volutes complete with the cluster of spindles at the bottom of the staircase makes it the focal point of the room. The double "D" end first step adds to its grandeur.

8.  The Walker Sheppard Oak Staircase.

This ia a beautifully constructed Cut-String and bracketed staircase in American White Oak.  We have had to use angled strings to fit into the clients pre-built walls.  The turned newels are complimented by the 41mm georgian spindles.  The staircase is currently in a show home and the carpet will probably be removed by the house owner to show the full splendor of the wood.

9.  Matlock American White Oak Staircase.

This American White Oak Straight staircase is enhanced by the inclusion of a double "D" end first step and a single "D" end second step. 

The use of a volute to hold the nest of Georgian Spindles at the bottom of the handrail adds to its granduer.

10.  Baptist Chapel White Oak Staircase.

Single winder staircase in American White Oak complete with Provincial newel posts and spindles.

11.  Kentish American White Oak Staircase.

This very impressive cut string American White Oak staircase enhances the modern style of the property.  Using the 120mm Range, for Stop Ovolo newel posts, mushroom caps, hand and base rail, incorporating a 41mm Stop Ovolo Spindle from our Standard Range, gives a solid appearance, whilst maintaining the pure elegance of it's design.

13.  Berriew Single Winder Oak Staircase.

14.  Open Tread Winder Oak Staircase.

This beautiful open tread winder staircase in Oak has turned newels and spindles complete with ball caps.

The treads are made to a thickness of 32 mm and were routered out to allow for the carpet pieces to be inlaid separately on each tread.

Again the double "D" end first step and double bull nose second step adds to the look of this impressive product.

15. Ford - Double Winder Idigbo Staircase.

Double winder staircase in all Idigbo.  Double sided bullnose bottom step.  Stop Chamfered newel posts and spindles with pyramid newel caps.

17.  Berriew Provincial Softwood Staircase.

This softwood staircase comprises of  Provincial spindles and newels with square acorn caps with softwood strings and brackets.

18.  Oak Staircase with Quarter Landings.

These two Quarter Landing staircases have been designed to sit on top of one another.  The centre newel runs from the ground floor up through to the second floor.  The newels and spindles are stop chamfered.

19.  Winding Oak Staircase  - The Hope.

This cut-string winder staircase in American White Oak shows the equally beautiful effect one can acheive without the decorative brackets normally seen on a cut string.

The client decided on a 55mm stop chamfered spindle and 150mm newel posts.

20.  Forden Double Winder Pine Staircase.

This double winder staircase has pine stop chamfered spindles with oak stop chamfered newels, completed with oak pyramid caps.  The treads and risers are pine.

21. Quarter Landing Oak & Metal Staircase.

This quarter landing closed tread staircase in Oak has turned newels complete with ball caps. The spindles are from our metal spindle range. The client has opted for a "Savannah" spindle and a "Madison" spindle placed alternatively.

22. Oak & White Spindle Staircase.

A straight flight leading to a quarter landing has been utilised here. Oak strings, handrail and newel posts are brightened up by the white painted softwood stop chamfered spindles.

23.  Double Winder Softwood & Redwood Staircase.

24.  Single Winder - Twist.

The look of this softwood single winder has been enhanced with the choice of 41mm twist spindles by the client.

The dark stain on the redwood handrail gives it a hardwood look.

This beautiful open winder staircase in beech has a beech dowel in place of the more conventional riser.

The balustrade is in beech with brushed nickel parts and brushed nickel spindles from our "Fusion Chrome & Nickel" range.

This is a sample open tread staircase in softwood built to primarily show the effect that glass paneling can have on a stairs.  The use of 10mm toughened glass is very popular.

Situated in an exclusive retail outlet in Bath, this innovative staircase incorporates glass balustrading to maximise light distribution and create a sleek, contemporary look.

Strings, newel posts and handrails are finished in white gloss accentuating the uncluttered, minimalist style. An attractive natural sisal carpet has been chosen for the treads that are completed with hardwearing non-slip stair nosings.

30. The Barn Conversion Oak Staircase.

This Oak three-winder staircase is situated in a barn conversion. The client has opted for a stop chamfered finish to both newel posts and spindles to keep in line with its traditional surroundings.

This softwood, space-saver staircase has allowed the client to keep the spacious appearance of the room. 

The treads on this space saver staircase are yellow pine.

The staircase, along with the square newels and spindles, has been coated with a clear sealer to retain the natural colour of the wood.

The space-saver staircase is a quick and economical means to gain access to the loft, giving the client an extra bedroom or valuable storage space.

This softwood space-saver staircase is erected above a softwood winder staircase, to allow access to a loft bedroom.

The hardwood handrail is set off against the white painted turned newels and georgian spindles, the treads on the spacesaver staircase are yellow pine.

40. Pershore Art Centre Yellow Pine Stairs.

This beautiful open tread staircase is manufactured in Yellow Pine.  The riser is glass and each tread has a distinguishable nosing.  The client has opted for a shaped post top as opposed to using the more conventional post cap.  The spindles are 22mm x 30mm and are a simple square design.  The staircase is situated in an art gallery in Worcestershire.

41. External Oak Staircase.

Oak was chosen for this external staircase,  as oak is natuarally durable and suitable for most external situations, however, over a time oak will develop a silvery-grey appearance, if desired a suitable exterior wood stain can be applied. 

The treads have anti-slip grooves in them. The post tops have been shaped rather than have a cap fitted.

42. Curved Staircase.

Client required a small eight step curved staircase in softwood.  Full flight is available.

43.  Dingle Glass Staircase.

Softwood open tread staircase with glass panelling. Stop Chamfered posts and pyramid caps.

Our customer Tracy said: "It was very important to keep as much light as possible as there was only one window in the roof, but the glass baluster has kept it light and bright as the glass reflects the light, an ordinary balustrade would have taken a lot of the light away.  I am very pleased".

50. The Fallows Metal Staircase.

Mild steel quarter landing staircase with stainless steel balustrade.  Strings are made from 10mm thick mild steel plate with 4.5mm chequer plate treads.  The entire staircase is hot dipped galvanised.  Stainless steel balustrade is made up from 48.3mm O.D. tubular handrail.  Bottom rail is from 50mm x 10mm flat bar and the spindles are from 20mm O.D. tube.

51.  School Staircase.

Softwood quarter landing staircase.  Newels and spindles are stop chamfered and finished with a pyramid newel cap.

As this staircase is for use in a school it is 1200mm wide.  The photographs do not do justice as there is 6 meters of return balcony, as the plan drawing shows.

52.  Oxfordshire Barn Conversion Oak Staircase.

This superb American White Oak staircase and gallery enhances the quality workmanship of this barn conversion, mixing old with new.  The staircase blends in perfectly with the original oak beams.  A stop chamfered style is used to keep in with the character of the barn.

This American White Oak staircase is a combination of an open riser straight flight and a closed winder box section.  The client has opted to use oak square newels and spindles with flat newel caps.

Double winder with Redwood strings and Whitewood treads.  The Client has chosen Redwood turned newels with a ball newel cap.  The spindles are 41mm redwood georgian.  The bottom step is a single "D" End.

58.  Ascan Croft - American White Oak Staircase.

Our client requested a T-Shaped staircase in American White Oak. 

The closed string staircase has American White Oak 41mm Georgian style spindles, turned newel posts with ball newel caps.

59.  Pudding Lane With Mopstick Handrail.

This half landing staircase designed for public use has Whitewood strings with American Oak treads, with Redwood handrail, baserail and newel posts, in its design are 35mm pine stop chamfered spindles.  The client also commissioned Pear Stairs to manufacture the winder stairs which also consists of Whitewood strings with American White Oak treads, a mopstick handrail is used on both of the smaller flights.

60.  Worthen Oak Staircase.

This American White Oak staircase is closed string with carpeted treads and risers.  The handrail is continuous around the top of the stairs.  Our client opted for stop chamfered spindles.

This American white Oak staircase is cut string with brackets.  Using an open newel and cap at the bottom and continuous handrail throughout.  The spindles are stop chamfered.

American White Oak staircase complete with a volute on the bottom step complete with a continuous handrail system.  The stop chamfered spindles give a contemporary look for this barn conversion.

63.  The Melverley Metal Staircase.

Galvanised mild steel straight staircase with landing. 

Side plates are 250x10 M.S. Plate, treads are 5mm M.S. chequer plate with formed risers.  The load bearing posts are manufactured from 100x100 M.S. hollow section. 

The whole staircase has been hot dipped galvansised to give the customer the satisfaction of a lifetime guarantee.

64.  Ardleen Softwood Staircase.

A softwood "T" shaped staircase with stop chamfered newels and spindles.  The first two treads have been designed as double D-End steps to give an attractive feature in the hallway.

The balustrade on the landing has been fitted to follow the angled well opening

Our client fully carpeted the staircase including the D-End steps.

65.  Sarnau Oak Staircase.

This single winder staircase is manufactured in American White Oak with turned newels and Georgian Spindles.  The landing balustrade is fitted to the angled well.

Our client has fully carpeted the staircase including the bullnose step on the entry.

66.  Moreton Barn Oak & Metal Staircase.

This staircase is manufactured in European Oak for a barn conversion. 

The metal balustrade is designed as a complete unit to each section (not supplied by Pear Stairs on this specific job).

67.  St. John's Idigbo Staircase.

This Idigbo dog-leg staircase is free standing so we have supplied the newel posts to the floor  which were needed for support.

Thicker 28mm treads have been used with stop chamfered posts and spindles with flat newel post caps.

Our customer Chris said: "We wanted an Oak staircase but the Oak option was too expensive so we decided to go with the Idigbo, as this was very similar to the Oak and we wanted the stairs to be in keeping with the church. Pear Stairs are very good and we are very pleased with the staircase".

This softwood staircase shows what can be accomplished in a limited space.  With square newel posts and spindles to the stair entry, the main flight runs between walls, needing only a wall handrail.

69.  Newtown Softwood Stairs.

A Softwood quarter landing staircase leading to  office.

This staircase consists of stop chamfered newels combined with 41mm stop chamfered spindles, the handrail used is Pear Stairs PHR handrail, the newels are finished with pyramid newel caps to give this practical staircase a decorative look.

This beautiful softwood staircase has been painted with the exception of the treads, handrail and newel caps which are in Ash.  The posts and spindles are Stop chamfered.

This single winder staircase constructed in American White Oak with softwood treads and risers, which are carpeted.

This public set staircase is found in Wrexham County Library and is of a high specification to suit the clients requirements.

The stringers are large box section with oak treads and "warm to touch" nylon coated handrail.  The steel and glass balustrade along with the open oak treads give this heavy duty staircase a lighter and more appealing appearance.

102.  Open Riser Ash Staircase.

Stop Chamfered newels and spindles complete with pyramid caps is the customers choice for this Ash open riser staircase. A dowel is used in place of the normal riser to ensure building regulations are met.

Our client chose to renovate his existing staircase with parts purchased from our on-line shop, whilst keeping the original newel posts. Stop Ovolo spindles, TBR baserail and pyramid newel caps were purchased from our White Primed section.

A Sapele THR handrail completed the renovation. Infill (fillets) were used to secure the spindles to the hand and baserails.

This Whitewood Cut-String staircase is enhanced by the double 'D' end bottom step and Sapele continual handrail.

It is difficult to show the expanse of this staircase in a photograph, but you will note its grand design from the plan attached.

The client has painted the Georgian turned spindles white, which brings out the beautiful effect of the dark stained Sapele handrail.

This is a very good example of a near standard Double Winder staircase.

Whitewood strings, Whitewood treads and plywood risers are the customers’ choice on this occasion.

The balustrade of Stop Chamfered Posts, pyramid caps and 41mm Stop Chamfered spindles is manufactured in Redwood.

The customer requested we use 28mm thick Tread as opposed to our standard 21mm.

This Dogleg staircase is manufactured entirely from American White Oak.

The double bullnose entrance step adds elegance to the staircase.

All landings, Apron, Nosing and cover mould is included in the price.

110.  Blower, American White Oak Staircase.

These beautiful American White Oak staircases are a very impressive feature to the hallway of this new house.

The basement to ground floor staircase is a single winder design. The ground floor to first floor is a quarter landing. Both staircases are cut string both sides to give the appearance of the treads running into the wall.  The cut-string is finished with a decorative scotia moulding under the tread nosing.  The balustrade is made up of Stop Chamfered newel posts, Stop Chamfered spindles and pyramid newel caps.

Please note how the spindles on the basement to ground floor staircase are diminishing into the underside of the stairs above.

The wall handrail is our standard PHR, which we have supplied without the normal spindle groove to allow it to be mounted onto the brackets.

The client has fixed lighting into the walls to really enhance this outstanding example of joinery at its best.

111.  Heronsdale, American White Oak Staircase c/w Oak Flooring.

A simple, but attractive, straight American White Oak staircase.

The customer requested a “nothing fancy” square specification. This example shows the effect one can achieve using Square newel posts and 41mm Square spindles with a pyramid newel cap.

The Oak floor matches the grain and colour of the staircase perfectly and was purchased from our on-line shop.

112.  Crownhill Whitewood Staircase.

This new staircase is designed to give access to new offices. They don't have to meet ambulant regulations, as there is a lift in the property, but are manufactured with a 250mm going for public use.

The 1100mm high balustrade on the landing is also a building regulation for public use. The balustrade is made up of Stop Chamfered newel posts, Stop Chamfered spindles and pyramid caps. The wall mop-stick handrail is fixed to one side only, as the stairs are less than a metre wide.

The staircase is made up of whitewood treads and plywood risers as the stairs are carpeted with a metal nosing placed on the edge of the treads complete with an anti slip strip.

113.  Compton Curved Staircase.

This beautiful splayed American White Oak staircase is just what this huge entrance hall called for. Our chief designer, Andy Hughes worked closely with the customer to achieve an outstanding end result.

The staircase is cut-string both sides and is the main feature of this home.

The client chose the Oxford Fluted Newel Posts and Spindles to compliment the continual handrail. Two wreathed volutes enhance the entrance of the staircase.

114. Treetops Oak & Metal Spindle Staircase.

This Single Winder staircase is manufactured from a mixture of timbers. The whitewood treads and plywood risers help to keep the cost down without detracting from the lovely finish.

The American White Oak strings will ensure a quality looking product. The Georgian turned newel post is finished with ball newel caps. Alternate Savannah and Madison spindles have been used from our metal spindle range, to give a modern yet traditional end product.

115. The Blaen Ash Carved Staircase.

A superb example of what Pear Stairs can achieve at a very reasonable cost.

Ash is the main timber used in this Dogleg staircase. The strings, newel posts, Stop Chamfered spindles and the bottom two treads are all in Ash, the carpet covers the whitewood treads and plywood risers.

The quality of the grain in the Ash shines through and the style lends itself to the surroundings.

The entry posts are 120mm square which have been carved on three sides to give this customer a unique staircase.

Our client has finished the staircase by boarding the underside in Ash and forming a very useful storage space beneath the staircase, again in Ash.

Strings are 40mm thick and the treads are 44mm thick. A Stainless Steel tubular riser is used to give this simple but effective design a stunning finish.

Stainless steel discs have been used to secure the glass to Oak strings with our Easy Glass range used for the landing balustrade. A unique combination gives a dramatic visual effect.

This is a superb Single Winder staircase manufactured in Ash at a very competitive price.

The style of the staircase has been kept quite simple, by using Square Spindles and Stop Ovolo Newel Posts, which are finished with Square Acorn Newel Caps.

Our client has finished the staircase with a Mid Oak Liberon floor dye and Liberon floor oil to give a superior finish to the staircase, this allowing the Ash grain to show through. You will note in the before and after photographs how it transforms the staircase.

A combination of American White Oak and Redwood has been cleverly used to produce a very impressive entrance to the staircase.  Designed to fit into an awkward space, to achieve this you will notice the angular newel posts, and the extra large winder support newel.

The first part of the stairs has been designed as a cut string, as this is the visual part of the staircase from the ground floor, the remainder is closed string.

The risers are in a painted softwood, contrasting well against the superior grained oak.

A carpet runner finishes the overall effect of a well thought out project.

129.  Convent Close Staircase.

An extremely modern staircase.  The flight is manufactured in softwood with the stairs to be carpeted and the strings painted, this highlights the balustrade which is all in American White Oak with brushed stainless steel bars incorporated into the spindles.

130.  The Park Staircase.

This exquisite Oak quarter landing cut string is the feature in the hallway.  A large D-End step on the start of the staircase enhances its grandeur.  Stop Chamfered posts and 41mm Stop Chamfered spindles have been supplied along with pyramid caps.  Pear Stairs supplied Oak tongue and groove boards which were used to finish the underside of the staircase.

132.  North Malvern American White Oak Staircase.

This is a winding American White Oak staircase, designed to blend in with the original timbers of a delightful barn conversion.

The Stop Chamfered newel posts are both old and new, plain but stylish with a pyramid cap to finish.  The extensive gallery, connection the two sections of the upper part of the barn, is made up of Stop Chamfered spindles to match the newel posts.

The actual flight has been left uncovered which shows the beautiful grain in the timber, our customer used a Osmo Polyx hard wax oil in matt for the inside of the string , treads and risers and for the spindles, newel post and outside of strings a Liberon black bison wax.

A trio of staircases servicing the basement to second floor of the property, a mixture of winders, straight and quarter landing.

All the shown parts of the staircase are manufactured in whitewood, with the winder treads in MDF and the risers in ply, as the stairs are carpeted.

The stairs have a painted finish with a dark stain applied to the handrail and caps.  A popular Stop Chamfered style has been chosen for the newel posts and spindles

135.  Bury Road Staircase.

This single winder complete with quarter landing staircase shows how effective a paint finish can be to a standard softwood flight.  Stop Chamfered newel posts and spindles have been chosen by the customer.  Cost effective softwood treads with MDF winder treads and ply wood risers have been used as the flight has been carpeted.  An option of one coat white primer is available for a very little cost.

Pear stairs worked in conjunction with our client to design this American White Oak straight flight staircase.  The customer had seen a similar design somewhere and told us over the phone what he would like to achieve.  Our designers were set the task and we were delighted with the finished product.  The client now has an extra 3 drawers for storage.  An ideal place for shoes!!!

Please ensure the drawers are shut when not in use, especially when young children are likely to be running up and down the stairs.

This softwood straight staircase has been given a distinctive look using balustrade from the "Slender" range.  All newel posts, newel post caps, handrail, baserail and spindles on this staircase are in Redwood. 

The "Slender" range combines the traditional warmth of timber with simple, uncomplicated design.

Our customer had seen this style of spindle and newel on our website and wanted to replicate it for her attic stairs.

150.  Raggett House Staircase.

Our customer saw a similar flight whilst browsing our "staircase studies" on our website.  The stairs had an interesting layout at the top of the flight using continuous handrail parts and a sweeping curve in the return balustrade, which we had specially made from template supplied from site.  The flight is primarily white primed with a redwood continuous handrail and whitewood treads, that the customer intends to stain when the job is complete.

The posts and spindles are Georgian profile.

This central metal spine accommodates American White Oak treads with glass balustrade and glass risers.  Pear Stairs worked closely with the customer to help them capture a vision for this modern staircase.

An American White Oak staircase with softwood treads and plywood risers.  The stairs are to be carpeted, so by using softwood treads and ply risers the cost of the staircase is reduced considerably.

The 10mm toughened glass panel balustrade allows light into a narrow hallway and therefore gives the appearance of a larger room.

155.  Manor Farm Staircase.

This all Oak open riser staircase is an example of a single winder design.  Half risers have been used to ensure there is no gap bigger than 99mm, thus complying with building regulations.  Stop Chamfered posts and matching 35mm spindles have been used on this staircase to give a contemporary feel.

This staircase consists of two flights, ground floor to first floor and first floor to second floor.

Whitewood strings, Whitewood treads and ply risers are used as the stairs are to be carpeted.

Two flights of closed string staircases in American White Oak, the treads and risers are in softwood and ply, they were then carpeted.

Two flights of closed string softwood staircases were designed for this new build.  41mm Pine Stop Chamfered Spindles with Redwood Square newel posts were used and completed with Pine pyramid newel caps, which were painted white by our customer.

164.  The Elms Glass Staircase.

(Glass Staircase).

An Oak staircase with 10mm toughened glass risers, with the exception of risers one and 14, the first riser is left open and riser 14 is a full timber riser, purely for cosmetic reasons.

Our customer Bill said: "I learned of Pear Stairs from a local contractor and the service and communications I have received have, at all times, been prompt, courteous and efficient.  My design requirements were interpreted clearly and I am pleased with the finished product, our photographs do not really do justice to the installation!"

166.  Jerningham Staircase.

A very elaborate cut string softwood staircase.  The design and manufacture are in-keeping with the ground to first floor original flight.

167.  The Bungalow Loft Conversion.

This cut string and bracket staircase is the centre point of this bungalow loft conversion which replaces a loft ladder in a dark hallway.

Ash Provincial newel posts and spindles, combined with Ash
square acorn newel caps have been used.   Our client has boxed in the back of the staircase and added halogen spotlights to create extra light.  All stair parts are coated with four coats of diamond hard acrylic varnish.

Our customer Ian said: "From conception we had fast delivery of wood samples from Sales then a quick turnaround of drawings, produced from our initial drawings e-mailed to us.  Once we had accepted Pear Stairs drawings, the stairs were manufactured to a high standard and delivered on the due date in excellent condition, thanks to first class packaging and carriage.  I would recommend anyone requiring a set of bespoke timber stairs, to make Pear Stairs their first stop for first class prices and service."

An American White Oak double winder staircase with Stop Chamfered newel posts and spindles. 

The customer has utilised the space underneath the staircase by having a cupboard made to add extra storage to this barn conversion.

170.  The "T" Shaped Staircase.

Two "T" shaped staircases consisting of a GF-FF and a FF-SF.

The ground to first floor flight is a cut string staircase up to the landing level, it then changes to a closed string from the landing level to the top floor. The FF-SF flight is again "T" shaped.

Our client chose Pine Georgian spindles and newel posts which were painted white on site. The stairs were completed with a Sapele continuous handrail. Newel posts from the first floor to second floor are finished with Redwood ball caps, which have also been painted white.

172.  The Stamp Curved Staircase.

This American White Oak staircase has a splayed entry which really sets the stairs apart.  With turned newel posts and twisted spindles, the cut-string construction gives it a classic look.

173.  The Fire Station Staircase.

This is an ideal example of a staircase that meets the Ambulant Disabled Regulations required on certain public staircases.

The 1.2 metre wide treads are 28mm thick with flush nosings and a Redwood handrail on both sides.  A Stop Chamfered style has been chosen for the balustrade, to give a solid but stylish appearance in a very active workplace.

The treads and risers have been covered in a contrasting vinyl and distinguishable edging strips, fitted as a requirement.

174.  The "No Wedge" Staircase.

This American White Oak quarter landing staircase has been manufactured without use of wedges and glue blocks as a closed string staircase usually would be. Our client requested that the staircase was to have a neat finished underside as this was to be exposed and visible.

The treads are housed into the string, glued and then screwed through the string with a cover plug fitted to the screw head.

175.  Drayton Stairs.

An American White Oak staircase serving three floors.

The ground floor to first floor is a straight flight and the first floor to second floor is a winder with a quarter space landing.

The use of Georgian newels and spindles really gives this staircase a classic look.

182.  Ellery Rise Stairs.

This beautiful double landing staircase is mainly manufactured in American White Oak. As the customer wished to carpet the staircase the treads and risers were both manufactured in softwood. All showing parts are in American White Oak.

The client requested a chunky balustrade and chose parts from our Classical Range. The turned newel posts are 120mm Oxford style and the spindles are 55mm Oxford style.

183.  Summerville Winder Staircase.

This softwood single winder staircase has been given a contemporary look by using Stop Chamfered newels and 41mm Stop Chamfered spindles to match.  The staircase has been complimented further by the use of an Oak handrail against painted white balustrading.  The stairs will be carpeted to finish.

This double winding staircase has been manufactured in our standard Whitewood and Redwood, which is ideal for staining.

This beautifully constructed cut string staircase is in American White Oak.  The Stop Chamfered newels are complimented by 41mm Stop Chamfered spindles, our most popular style, giving a very modern look and blending in exceptionally with the surrounding decor.

186.  Angells Meadow Staircase.

This American White Oak staircase is the centrepiece of the house.  The customer opted for a "Boston" metal spindle and also purchased Fiddes Hardwax Oil to finish the staircase from our online shop.

188.  Little Whelnetham Stair Parts.

Our customer used the structure of his existing stairs, which was initially thick treads built into the wall.  He clad the whole structure using Hemlock stair parts, purchased from our website, in order to produce this light, bright modern staircase.

On this occasion Pear Stairs supplied the cut string American White Oak staircase, with our customer's sourcing the glass panelling, steel newels, brackets and an oak handrail themselves.

The treads are 28mm thick and the cut string tread has a scotia bead applied, giving a very modern finish to suit the glass balustrade. All components can be viewed on our website and supplied with or without a staircase.

192.  The White Oak Riser & Tread Refurbishment.

For this refurbishment we manufactured a small straight staircase.

Strings were made in Whitewood with American White Oak treads and risers, these were chosen to blend in with the flooring on the upper level, our clients existing balustrade was reused .

A fine example of a European Oak Staircase, incorporating timber and glass balustrading.  35mm Stop Chamfered spindles have been used up the rake of the stairs and 10mm toughened glass units on stainless steel brackets used on the landing returns.
The glass allows the light to flow down to the hallway from the velux roof windows above.

An American Oak quarter landing staircase using our standard turned Georgian newels and spindles.  The treads are in softwood and risers are plywood as the stairs are to be carpeted.

195.  Chesilton Staircase.

This Staircase has been manufactured in softwood.  The newels and 35mm spindles are Stop Chamfered.

The Client has finished the staircase with a stain to match the wood flooring in the hallway and has opted to use a runner on part of the stairs.

This is our standard softwood staircase specification, with ply risers and MDF winders as the treads and risers are fully carpeted.  Our customer has chosen square newel posts and spindles with a white gloss finish blending in well with the white walls.

197.  Merrywood Staircase.

This is a complete American White Oak quarter landing staircase.  Stop Ovolo spindles and newels were chosen to create a simple yet effective look, working well with the under staircase storage our customers added later.

This Redwood staircase has been placed in an old building that is being renovated by our customer.  Square spindles and newels where selected to be completed with pyramid newel caps.  The staircase is to be stained at a later date.

199.  Trefnanney Cut String Staircase.

This Redwood cut string staircase was given a contemporary feel by using chunkier 41mm spindles and 120x120 newels, with the shaker effect added to the newel posts, in-keeping with the style throughout the house.  The treads were finished to a 32mm thickness with a square nosing.  A matt varnish was used on the treads, handrail and newel caps to compliment the natural grain of the wood, all other parts have been painted white, giving an overall fresh, contemporary look to the stairs.

Our customer said:  "Pear Stairs were great, they talked me through everything and nothing was too much trouble, delivery was on time and the stairs were properly packed, they went together well and I'm absolutely over the moon with the finished product, thank you!".

200.  London Way Glass Staircase.

A fine example of a solid Black Walnut staircase from the basement to the roof, supported on a centre newel post.  The lights are fitted into the strings of the stairs, this combined with the glass balustrade gives the staircase a real contemporary look.

201.  Hurst Road Stairs.

This staircase consisted of 4 flights of stairs, the ground to first floor and first floor to second floor.

Whitewood strings and treads have been used with Redwood posts, spindles and newel caps, which have been painted white by our client, American White Oak standard handrails finish the staircase.

Our customer Gary said: "The stairs went in really well, and look great.  We will be back soon for an Oak staircase".

202.  Mill Shop.

This softwood staircase is installed in a factory environment.  Our client needed a staircase to view the machine but also one that was easy to move aside to put stock away.  Note the detail on the newel posts which allows an easy dismantle to remove the staircase from the landing.

The stairs is an open riser flight with stop chamfer spindles and a simple stop chamfer design on the post tops.

Our customer said: "We are delighted with this simple design.  The staircase is strong but more important to us is that we can easily move it aside.  Pear Stairs are so easy to deal with, we described what we wanted over the phone and within 6 days the stairs was delivered.  It took us 2 hours to fit it, it was that simple".

This American White Oak staircase is fitted into a refurbished office.  It has flush nosing on the treads to comply to the Disabled Ambulant Regulations.  The newels are turned with a 41mm Georgian spindle.

204.  The "Flo Spindles" Stair Parts.

Our client wanted to renovate her existing staircase, as she lives locally she called into our showroom to look at the options available to her, she chose white primed 41mm "Flo" Spindles, Stop Chamfered newel posts and Pine Pyramid Caps with our own Pear Handrail in Pine.

205.  Crossacre Stairs.

A softwood closed string, single winder staircase, fitted between walls with a return balustrade  composed of Stop Chamfered spindles and newels at the top. The staircase has been painted white by our client.

206.  Coppice Staircase.

An unusual mix of American White Oak and Sapele timber was chosen for this staircase.  The wall string, treads and risers are manufactured in Sapele, giving additional strength, these were primed in our workshop, ready for a top coat of white gloss once in position. The balustrade and outer string are manufactured in American White Oak.

Georgian newels and 41mm Georgian spindles have been chosen with a Traditional hand and baserail.

The staircase matches perfectly with the surrounding doors and architrave, an extremely well thought out design.

Our Customer Hitesh said: "Fast, efficient service, the staircase is just what we envisaged, really impressed with the quality".

207.  Le Blancq Glass Staircase.

This staircase is manufactured  from Black Walnut with glass panels held in place with Stainless Steel brackets, the newel posts are Stop Chamfered finished with our decorative kerf. 

The lights fitted on the staircase string were added by our customer at a later stage.

208.  Howard's Barn Staircase.

This all American White Oak, open riser, single winder staircase was installed into a barn conversion.

Our customers requirements were for us to provide a staircase which utilised their  own steel balustrade, whilst ensuring the staircase was in keeping with the design of  their home.

Our customer Howard said:  "Pear Stairs have been very helpful throughout our stairs project.  Our requirements were to create stairs that blended with the design of the barn and allowed us to install our balustrade.  There has been full support from the initial proposal to final production design.  The assembled stairs fit well and we are extremely pleased with the end result".

209.  Ivy Cottage Staircase.

A softwood half landing staircase with stop chamfered newels and spindles, which were primed and painted by our customer.  American White Oak ball caps and handrails have been used which compliment the property.  A double D-end step adds to the charm of this staircase.

Our customer Neil said:  "The price, quality and delivery were outstanding.  In addition, with the really helpful bespoke design service, we managed to get more treads on the first flight than on the second.  This gave us another 24cm on the landing width, which transformed the feeling of space".

210.  The Pinson Cut String Staircase.

An all American White Oak cut-string staircase with return decorative brackets to the side of string.  Oak Twisted newel posts have been used with matching spindles. A Twist volute sits on a D-end first tread giving impact to this very impressive staircase.

This is a further set of pictures to "Case Study 126" but this staircase needed highlighting again because of our clients unusual request for a storage facility within the steps.

212.  Mitchell Staircase.

This magnificent all American White Oak splayed entrance staircase uses parts from our "Classical Range" our client chose 55mm Twist spindles with Oxford Twist newel posts with acorn newel caps. Special profile handrail pattern No. 75, which can be seen in our on-line shop was also chosen to give a unique touch.  The stairs open to an impressive gallery landing.

Our customer Rosemary said:  "The stairs have gone in very well and nearing completion, we are absolutely delighted with them, thank you Pear Stairs".

213.  Glassworks Staircase.

A standard softwood staircase to allow access to offices from the warehouse below.

The landing is supported on full height newel posts.  The redwood newels and spindles are stop chamfered.  The stairs are constructed of whitewood treads with plywood risers, as the stairs is under cover it does not need to be treated, but would be ideal for an external staircase to a building, in treated redwood or a hardwood sapele.

An American White Oak staircase supplied for a builders merchants showroom leading to offices.  The staircase shows off the lovely grain in the timber and has been well finished by our customer with an Oak faced ply underneath the staircase in preference to plasterboard.

224.  Malthouse Barn Staircase.

(Stair Parts).

An unusual combination staircase designed to suit a unique barn conversion.

Our customer had this staircase made up on site using pre-cut softwood material from Pear Stairs to marry up with reclaimed Oak from site.  Note how a new Oak top step was incorporated to match up with the Oak floor boards on the landing.

The use of white gloss Stop Ovolo spindles lighten the rake and gallery.

All parts used in the stairs and balustrade can be purchased in our on line shop or visit to our showroom.

Our customer said: "We normally buy all our stairs from Pear Stairs complete, on this occasion it suited the project to have the stairs made up on site to get the full effect of the reclaimed oak available".

225.  Rowangate Staircase.

This staircase is for public use in a property with no lift, therefore it has to be classed as Ambulant Disabled, for this the treads have to be 28mm thick and have flush nosings.

An unusual style for the 40mm redwood spindles with a single groove on the lower part.  The redwood newel posts are also specials, shaped as a pyramid on the top and bottom where necessary.

The strings and spindles have been painted white, with a contrasting stain for the newel posts and handrail.

Our customer said:  "Very pleased with the finished project, detailing was all important and the special balustrade was just what was required".

226.  Pemberton Stairs.

A standard specification for these staircases.  Redwood Stop Chamfered newels, 35mm Stop Chamfered spindles, PHR hand and baserails.

The stairs are to be carpeted so ply risers and MDF winders have been used on this ocassion.  The stairs are painted in white gloss, with a stained Sapele hardwood handrail to give a lovely contrast.

227.  Team Sport Stairs.

These are public staircases.  The softwood short flights are between walls, joined by preformed mid landings, with a stainless steel wall handrail.

The wider flight has an undercarriage, the balustrade is formed by 90mm Stop Chamfered newels and 41mm spindles and has a Redwood PHR hand and baserail all finished on site in black paint to enhance the overall effect.

Both stairs have chequered flag carpet tile finish with coloured distinguishable edging strips decorated to blend in at the race track venue.

Our customer Paul said:  Really appreciated all your efforts .... happy for all you guys at Pear Stairs to have a free spin whenever you're close to any of my centres!".

228.  Faulkner White Oak Staircase.

This single winder staircase has been manufactured all in American White Oak, a prime example of the lovely grain in this timber.

The staircase is between walls with an Oak mopstick handrail and brackets on one side,  the small gallery landing balustrade is made up of Stop Chamfered newel posts with pyramid newel caps, Stop Chamfered spindles with a "PHR" Oak hand and base rail.

229.  Gorleston Glass Staircase.

This modern design staircase incorporates a mix of Black Walnut, glass and stainless steel fittings.  42mm finish sized strings and treads give the stairs a solid look with stainless steel riser bars and 15mm toughened glass balustrade giving the stairs its unique appearance.

Pine Stop Chamfered newels and spindles, completed with pyramid newel caps have been used on this single winder staircase.

233.  Cardeston Glass Staircase.

This Oak staircase was achieved using the imagination of the customer coupled with the craftsmanship of Pear Stairs.  A modern looking staircase was required for this beautiful property which is achieved by using 90mm treads with 150mm newel posts and a special profile handrail complementing the glass balustrade.

234.  Davidson Staircase.

A quarter landing softwood staircase with Stop Chamfered newels and spindles, ply risers were used as the staircase was to be carpeted, a Sapele handrail was chosen to add contrast, overall this new staircase blends in well with our clients older property.

235.  Castle External Staircase.

This external staircase and gallery balustrade is manufactured in a redwood which has been tanalized treated.

The newels are 90mm square with a flat cap and the spindles are 41mm square being 1.1 metres high on the landing balustrade.

A beautiful American White Oak staircase is the centre point of this new build properties entrance.  The Stop Chamfered newel posts and spindles give a modern feel to a classic design.

237.  Wernhill Stairs.

This is an American Oak open riser stairs, with a unique stainless steel and oak spindle.

We have also used a stainless steel rod as a riser bar.

238.  Manor Green Staircase.

This softwood staircase is simple yet effective.  The customer had issues with space which Pear Stairs' dedicated design team helped to overcome.  Stop Chamfered newels and spindles have been used.

An elegant American White Oak open riser staircase is the centrepiece of this new build.  The open riser allows light to come through into the hallway.  Balustrade is made up of Pear handrail and Pear baserail, Stop Chamfered newel posts, Stop Chamfered spindles and pyramid newel caps.

240.  Winchester Staircase.

This double winder staircase is our standard specification of whitewood treads, plywood risers and MDF winders, with a redwood balustrade that has been finished in white gloss to match the doors.  The newel posts and spindles are Stop Chamfered with a flat newel cap.

241.  Ashtree Barn Stairs.

This glazed conservatory required a staircase that would allow the light to flow through into the rooms above.

We have therefore manufactured an American White Oak open riser staircase with 10mm toughened clear glass panels.  Supported on stainless steel brackets.

242.  Freemans Yard Staircase.

This staircase is constructed completely in American White Oak, which has been stained by our customer.  Our most popular specification of Stop Chamfered newel posts and spindles, together with pyramid newel caps and standard profile handrail were chosen as it continues with the simple, contemporary theme our customer was working with.

243.  Tattenhall Stairs.

A contemporary American White Oak staircase in a barn conversion, using a simple 35mm square spindle and a 90mm square newel, complete with a ball cap.

244.  Millers Cottage Stairs.

This softwood quarter landing staircase has balustrading all round.  Stop chamfered spindles and newels have been used which have been finished with pyramid newel caps.

245. New Road Staircase.

This straight staircase is constructed of American White Oak, with treads and risers supplied in Whitewood and Plywood, as they were to be carpeted by our customer.  This enabled them to have the quality Oak finish, whilst keeping the cost as low as possible.

The newel posts and spindles are Stop Chamfered, with our standard profile handrail, finished with pyramid newel caps.

Our customer Roy said:  "The stairs are great, Pear Stairs were a pleasure to deal with in every respect".

246.  Smale Metal Staircase.

The strings and risers have been painted to contrast with the stained finish to the rest of the flight.  Charleston spindles have been used from our metal range, the square newels have been drilled and shaped to take ball caps. 

These two smaller flights are a complimentary finish to this split level home.

Our customer said:  "The design service was excellent, the stairs are exactly how we wanted them, which were finished to a very high standard".

247.  South Audley Staircase And Matching Stairparts.

The design and manufacture of the basement stairs are in-keeping with the ground to first floor original flight.  The treads and risers are manufactured in American White Oak and the strings and balustrade in Redwood with a dark stain applied to match up with the original timber.  New balustrade was also supplied to refurbish the original staircase.

Our customer said:  "Extremely pleased with the service of Pear Stairs, have since ordered numerous staircases and will continue to do so".

248.  Lamsey Road Refurbishment and Spacesaver.

A complete new entry has been made for the main stairs, in order to knock a door through in the hallway.  The American White Oak Georgian balustrade was supplied by Pear Stairs.

On the first floor a pine spacesaver staircase has been fitted to gain access to the loft, the right hand side will be incased by a wall when the current extension is complete.  The balustrade follows the main staircase Georgian style.

Our customer said:  "Quite a complex project but ran smoothly, very pleased with the result".

249.  Pasadena Refurbishment.

(Stair Parts).

The photographs show what can be achieved by replacing a very dated balustrade with new spindles, handrail and baserail.  The Traditional spindles and baserail have been sprayed and lacquered by the fitter, the handrail and newel caps have been replaced with a Sapele hardwood handrail and Sapele pyramid newel caps.
